Dinner

Had dinner at a great little place called Jacques-Imo's Cafe.  Good eats and a good cab ride down St. Charles.  Ian and I stumbled into a gay bar on Bourbon shortly after.  Ah New Orleans.....

Walking thru and this woman climbs up on the ship and begins a rousing rendition of "Saints Go Marching" and "Ode to Joy".

Presentation Literacy

I can't be more shocked at the awful presentations I have seen at AERA.  I am not talking about the content, topics, ideas, etc.  Actually, I have been blown away regarding the work I have seen taking place.  I am talking about how awful the delivery of the content has been in cludinthe prepared slides, ill prwpareeness of some speakers, and the lack of reading audiences. More to come.....

View from Canal

Took these from the middle of the trolly lines as I ran to my next session.

Sunday Brunch

Cresent City Omlete

Mayhem

Wow....when they said 25,000 people, they meant 25,000 people.  The number of Macbook wielding researchers all rushing to find a cup of coffee and a non-descript session room is quite impressive.  The line of 35+ deep at Starbucks at any one time has not gone done from 7:30 this morning to now 10:45.   I am bringing my own cafe next year.  Any one interested in making some money should set up a mobile Starbucks on the street!!!

First Post!

Hello All,

I am sitting in the airport waiting for my flight that will take me to Atlanta for another flight that will take me to New Orleans for AERA 2011. This is a fairly unusual experience being at Bradley by myself. It felt weird to play with the "magical projected umbrellas" and not have my three kids to join me.

I plan on sharing as many pictures and stories from my trip as possible. I have no idea how busy I will be. Will soon find out.

Noah, Fiona, Ava.....please take goof care of your over worked and under appreciated mother.
